SANDWICH COURSE (2006)
A short movie made for festival screenings and competitions by Team Splattenstein (R.I.P.)Allrightee then... Team Splattenstein quit as a team in the last days of 2004 with no intent to ever return as team in the arena of Findie-moviemaking (Finnish independent cinema), but something happened...
...The last real movie, "2019 Il Ultimo Silenzio" was to be released on dvd and it would be the showcase of our talents (or the lack of them), yet the length of the movie seemed to be a huge problem. As the running time was 47 minutes, it wasn't able to 'screen' in most of the festivals and/or competitions, where films of this type are shown... This resulted in a quick fadeout of the movie... It took a year and a half from quitting, when few ex-teammembers decided to make a shortmovie targeted mainly for competitions and festivals/screenings, and the hasty script was born in the beginning of may 2006. We worked very differently from the previous installments, as we had these "workgroup"-type of meetings where majority of effects were constructed. In the beginning it was like a "flow of river", but it changed to "tar" after a while, heh...
Leading actor, Tapio Taipalus, moved completely to "the land of the rising sun" for years to come (and to be honest, some of his audio dubs are recorded there and sent to the editor via Messenger) so we had to work in tight schedule. As the result was to be very "comic book", the process itself was very light, despite of the editor working in two companies and taking care of his children in the evenings, so only the nights were left for the editing... Very soon in the process the movie began to show it's true face - fast, furious and funny... And as bloody as we possibly could do it... The cameo-appearances by other Findie-movieteams brought variety to the screen, and all the actors were pleased to be back on the track - cursing, yelling and dying bloodily... The "comic cook" humour was captured pretty neatly, and the colors in the movie are very "off-the-walls" underlining our vision (or the lack of it... The final scene was lit with Dario Argento's Inferno in mind). The final edit, the director's cut, is just the way wanted it, and we really hope it'll be a tough competitor for other independent movies alike in the competiotions and festival screenings to come.
This downloadable divx-version is optimized for divx players, so the resolution is full with very high bitrate - it should however work on "standard" computers with proper codecs, bufferlevels and/or players, but most likely some freezing or skipping will occur with older and/or problematic systems. Why so? Because we simply dislike the "online" videoquality and will not support that kind of "screening experience" now or ever... We hope You'll enjoy the movie, and if you do, please order a dvd-version of it for maximum quality (5€+postage) and duplicate/screen it freely to your friends, relatives and those who say they don't like movies like this! There will be professional HQ anamorphic transfer, english subtitles (on all extras), audio commentary, bloopers, deleted scenes, making of -interview and a couple of easter eggs... Not to mention a bonus movie made in early 2006 as an applywork to a leading art school in Finland, Taik - although we weren't seriously applying. If you are interested, mail: teamsplattenstein@jippii.fi... Other works aren't available anymore, sorry...
This is it. The team quit in 2004. This is no comeback, despite of the movie being released under the name of Team Splattenstein... The project was as exhausting as we'd think it would be, and completing it way ahead of schedule reminded us of the "hey dey" -era as well as the "more stressful" -aspects of moviemaking. This is no longer a path for us, yet we are fucking proud of this achievement, and hope it would bring even a slightest drop of fame for the memory of the team... Hmm... Fuck the fame and give us some money, hah!
